The Dream Distance Archive is a collaborative project begun by Nicolaus Chaffin and Jennifer Bastian. We are two people with a similar way of thinking about recording personal experience and the passage of time. We are both also in transitional phases of life where we are trying to find meaning and purpose, and dreams may be the key to what our subconscious is trying to work out. If we figure out our dreams, something else could be figured out too.
collaboration = problem solving + connection of common experience.
And then we thought...if we do this dream recording/sharing/responding thing, why not, at some point, begin to respond to the dreams of strangers too?
connection = awareness outside of ourselves
Organizing them by all of the different categories of what can happen in, around, because of, dreams. Dreams that include the appearance of an apple tree. Dreams that recall one's grandmother's teapot. Recurring dreams.
Our correspondence and sharing of dreams is a way to build our friendship, and a layer of the dreams of others will wrap around it, allowing for further thought and interaction beyond two people. This is how we hope to find meaning.
More soon.
Love,
jennie and nic
